Data contribution

Please contribute to the Heat Map of Luxembourg...

...and answer our questionnaires according to your role & your language

Questionnaires

Heat providers

Heat distribution

Heat users

Your company has excess heat to share

You manage a thermal energy supply system
(cogeneration plant, biomass boiler)

You manage a district heating or cooling system

You have an important heat
demand that you would
like to cover with excess heat

Please contact the project team: heatmap@list.lu

Your advantages

By providing information on excess heat, potential consumers (e.g. municipalities, companies) will be able to contact you to discuss potential collaboration to reuse heat. This will allow you to reduce your environmental impacts (CO2 emissions, emissions of pollutants into water and air, etc.) as well as, potentially, your costs.

The heat map is also a plateform that allows you to present your company as a responsible actor in the field of energy efficiency.

Finally, by providing data, your company will support national initiatives (e.g. Klimapakt) aiming at reducing the use of fossil fuels and limiting greenhouse gas emissions.

Your contribution

  • Before you begin answering your questionnaire (time required: about 15 to 20 minutes), we strongly recommend that you first collect the relevant, more difficult to obtain, data requested in part C (and D for the heating supply systems) of the questionnaire.

  • Please take into account that you should fill in one questionnaire per site. For excess heat sites, you can enter up to 5 sources of thermal energy. If you manage several different thermal energy plants or district heating/cooling systems, you can only describe one site per questionnaire.

  • After completing the questionnaire, you can generate an electronic version of your data and download it for archiving purposes.

Even if you have very little information currently available, don't hesitate to contribute to this map - there will be an opportunity, at a later stage, to enhance your data using various calculations and estimates. Of course, if you have any questions or comments, don't hesitate to contact us (heatmap@list.lu).

We would like to thank you for your contribution to this project!

Confidentiality

The long-term goal of this tool is to connect excess heat sources to heat users. To facilitate this exchange, some data will be published on this site and will be accessible by all. You can choose between 4 types of data publication:

  • All data provided can be made publicly available.
  • The name and location of your site, as well as heat quantities, temperatures, etc. are expressed in ranges and will be available online. The remaining data will be handled in a confidential manner by the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST).
  • The name and location of your site, as well as your interest in collaborating in an local or regional heat recovery concept will be published online. The remaining data will be handled in a confidential manner by the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST).
  • All data will be handled in a confidential manner by the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST).

All data may be used anonymously for statistical analysis as well as to comply to the data compilation requested made by the EU directive 2012/27/EU on energy efficiency. The data you provide might also be used by the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) to develop heat recovery concepts at national level.

For a detailed description of the confidential handling of your data, please refer to our document “Data protection and use”.
